From NIICA President Eric Pirtle
It is my honor to serve as the
association’s president for the next two years. Please allow me to
introduce myself.
I am a second-generation agency owner. My father opened the office in
1966 and I started a scratch agency in 1989. I grew to four offices with
over 12 employees; now I am back to one office with four employees. I
have three licensed staff (my daughter is one of them). I have made
every effort to be ethical, trustworthy, and loyal, and to partner with
the company on its programs.
My philosophy is this: As Nationwide exclusive agents, we need to help
protect and look out for each other because the industry and carriers
are changing with or without us. We must band together, share triumphs,
and communicate with each other more than ever. We need to rely on each
other, for we know our business and can help educate each other about
what works and how to do things better. Let’s grow our agency
commissions, premiums, and client lists like never before. Let’s be
different and help each other and our policyholders.
NIICA can play an integral part in this environment because NIICA was
created years ago for one reason: protect the rights of exclusive agents
who represent Nationwide. We want to make sure all exclusive agents
receive the benefits included in our contracts and the state or federal
rights that protect us as independent business people. We also want to
sell more policies and meet new goals every year. We have not changed.
We have never stopped providing customer service. We have always wanted
to multiline every possible policyholder.
My goal is for exclusive agents is to share winning practices, learn
from each other, and grow our businesses, all while meeting the needs of
our policyholders with the highest ethical character possible. NIICA
will be integral in this effort, but your input and participation is
essential. The board cannot do this alone. NIICA is nothing more than
agents helping other agents. We need you to become part of the
tradition. We all need each other.
