A key component of NIICA’s Talent Pipeline Development Initiative (TPDI), the National Center for Skill-Based Learning™ (CSBL) is advancing a national strategy to scale and support learning that enables individuals to develop skills required to enter into and advance in high-value careers throughout tech, advanced manufacturing and the trades.

There are 3 main objectives to the CSBL’s work:

  • Ensuring that the U.S. education system equips students with the skills essential for careers.

  • Substantially increasing the use of innovative Registered Apprenticeships that support stackable “learn and earn” opportunities.

  • Directly connecting industry, education and individuals within a skill-based system that enables job seekers to leverage their skills to enter into and advance in careers.

These objectives are accomplished by:

  • Developing Industry-Specific Pathways: Creating a continuum of skill-based experiential learning pathways from K-12 through post-secondary education that fully leverages Career and Technical Education to prepare students for careers.

  • Aligning Curriculum with Industry Demands: Implementing a dynamic system that ensures real-time, detailed alignment between educational curriculum and the specific requirements of the job market.

  • Building a National Network of Community Colleges: Establishing a network of community colleges focused on providing Related Technical Instruction for Registered Apprenticeships and career advancement.

  • Launching Career Opportunity Hubs: Expanding skill-based learning throughout regions that connect students and job seekers with careers and RAs in high-demand fields.

Join our growing network of employers, educational institutions and training providers dedicated to advancing skills-based learning, providing career opportunities and helping to build the nation’s talent pipeline supporting critical industries and their supply chains.
