National Apprenticeship Day:
Celebrating the Workforce of Tomorrow
National Apprenticeship Day (NAD) 2025 is here!
This nationwide observance, led by the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), highlights the impact of Registered Apprenticeships (RAs) in building strong, inclusive, and future-ready talent pipelines. At NIICA, we’re proud to support this work through our national initiatives focused on semiconductor and advanced manufacturing industries—sectors vital to U.S. innovation, national security, and economic growth.
Why Registered Apprenticeships Matter
RAs are more than training programs—they’re proven career pathways that deliver real results for workers and employers alike.
Key benefits include:
-
Earn While You Learn: Apprentices gain valuable hands-on experience and earn wages as they train for high-demand roles.
-
Accessible Pathways: RAs open doors for underrepresented populations, including veterans, career changers, and those without a four-year degree.
-
Workforce Solutions: RA programs help industries close skill gaps, strengthen the talent pipeline, and compete globally.

NIICA’s Role
As a USDOL's national industry Intermediary for semiconductors and advanced manufacturing, NIICA leads a nationwide effort to expand RAs and strengthen the U.S. talent pipeline. Through initiatives like GAINS (Growing Apprenticeships in Nanotechnology and Semiconductors) and the National Talent Hub, NIICA brings together employers, educators, workforce leaders, and community organizations to advance skill-based learning, foster economic mobility, and support sectors critical to national security and global competitiveness.
At every level—from local partnerships to national infrastructure—our mission is to build what's next for America's workforce.

Celebrate National Semiconductor Day™ During NAW
Originally launched in conjunction with National Apprenticeship Week each November, National Semiconductor Day™ highlights the essential role semiconductors play in driving innovation, strengthening U.S. competitiveness, and supporting critical industries.
With the USDOL shifting its national observance to National Apprenticeship Day in April, National Semiconductor Day™ is no longer formally aligned with this weeklong celebration. However, NIICA will continue to recognize i annually on the third Thursday of November to emphasize the importance of building a skilled talent pipeline for the semiconductor industry.
